Editorial Independence Policy

We subscribe to standards of editorial independence adopted by the Institute for Nonprofit News:

Black Catholic Messenger retains full authority over its content, including a commitment never to allow revenue sources to influence our coverage. Acceptance of financial support from a given individual or organization does not constitute the endorsement of said donors or their products, services, or opinions.

Black Catholic Messenger may consider grants meant to support the coverage of particular topics, but we maintain editorial control of said coverage.

Black Catholic Messenger will make public all donors who give a total of $5,000 or more per year. We accept anonymous donations for general support only if it is clear that the expenditure of that donation is made independently by our organization and is in compliance with INN’s Membership Standards.

Corrections policy

In stories where a significant correction is made, such as for a factual error, we will publish a corrected version on our website with a note at the end of the story indicating the nature and date of the correction made. If necessary, a corrected version will also be published via email. More minor corrections typically will not involve a note or republishing.
