Happy Advent!
We are exactly one week from Christmas.
In the Church’s liturgy, we have entered the days of the “O Antiphons”—the intense final stretch when we call out for the Messiah to come. We ask Him to come as Wisdom, as the Leader of the House of Israel, and as the Key of David to unlock the doors that have been shut.
At Black Catholic Messenger, we view our work through this same lens. Journalism, at its best, is about unlocking doors. It is about shining a light in the dark corners where stories of Black faith, struggle, and triumph have been hidden or ignored for too long.
We are preparing a way for these voices to be heard. But independent, truth-telling media requires community support.
